Ornamental plants for use in urban areas are considered essential for the implementation of parks, gardens and their use in sidewalks and backyards, however, it is important to consider their growth habit, appearance, shading capacity and visual appeal, as well as, in the case of their management, their resistance to drought and tolerance to high and low temperatures, their adaptation to certain types of soil. Nowadays, in big cities, care is taken from damage to drainage, wiring and collateral damage to pavements, so that this document is a guide to know in more detail the species considered and make good decisions when designing green areas in urban areas.
