Badanie wykazało, że Togo posiada ogromny potencjał w zakresie produkcji ryżu. Należy jednak zaznaczyć, że poza nielicznymi producentami ryżu pozostali rolnicy uprawiający tę roślinę nie mają żadnego dostępu do innowacji wynikających z badań naukowych. Wdrażanie technologii jest również bardzo ograniczone, a producenci korzystają z „dostępnych środków'. Z badania wynika, że wprowadzono wiele technologii mających na celu poprawę wydajności uprawy ryżu w Togo. Jednak nie wszystkie technologie zostały wdrożone, a wydajność uprawy ryżu pozostaje nadal niska. Badanie wykazało również, że przeszkody w wdrażaniu tych technologii mają charakter głównie ekonomiczny (brak środków finansowych, wysokie koszty pracy), społeczny (brak dostępności siły roboczej, praca rodzinna, duże obciążenie nielicznych gospodarstw rolnych) oraz instytucjonalny (niewiele organizacji pozarządowych działa w tym środowisku).
