Face à la domination des systèmes productifs de l’industrie agroalimentaire à l’échelle mondiale, commence à émerger depuis quelques décennies des systèmes productifs agroalimentaires 'alternatifs' à fort degré d’ancrage aux territoires ruraux. C’est dans ce contexte qu’on a assisté à la genèse du concept du SYAL à partir d’un concept générique (le SPL en l’occurrence) révélant une certaine bifurcation à travers une approche pluridisciplinaire mêlant l’économie, l’agronomie, l’anthropologie et la sociologie qui semblent tous porter sur un fait social par excellence : le 'fait alimentaire'. Ce système a le mérite d’intégrer aussi le consommateur final dans l’aval de la filière agro-alimentaire. C’est par rapport à ce concept du SYAL que ce travail se propose de porter un mince éclairage à travers une conceptualisation d’une filière centrée sur une denrée alimentaire prometteuse à tous les niveaux (économique, social, écologique) à savoir : la caroube; et ce à l’échelle d’un territoire rural montagneux du domaine Rifain (Nord du Maroc) : le Pays des Gzennayas.
