Lo scopo dello studio qui presentato è stato quello di individuare l’esistenza di una relazione tra la competenza cognitiva, l’uso di strategie metacognitive e la comprensione dell’errore nella risoluzione di problemi matematici con equazioni algebriche di 1° grado in studenti di 8° grado. I risultati hanno indicato relazioni significative tra la competenza cognitiva, l’uso di strategie metacognitive, la comprensione dell’errore e le prestazioni nella risoluzione dei problemi. Questi risultati evidenziano la necessità di sviluppare attività in classe volte a formare gli studenti all’uso corretto delle strategie metacognitive, al fine di migliorare la loro capacità di risolvere problemi matematici, nonché di prevenire e comprendere gli errori che commettono.
