La tourbière de Mfabeni, située le long de la plaine côtière du Maputaland, au nord du KwaZulu-Natal, est la plus grande tourbière active d’Afrique. En raison du manque de reconstitutions paléoenvironnementales détaillées réalisées dans cette région, les dépôts de tourbe du Maputaland, en particulier la tourbière de Mfabeni, représentent un gisement important pour la recherche paléoenvironnementale. L’objectif de cette étude était de reconstituer l’histoire sédimentaire de la tourbière de Mfabeni à l’aide de techniques de caractérisation sédimentaire.
