Die Studie basierte auf dem großen Bedarf der Flussbewohner, die sich ständig von Pflanzen, der Jagd und dem Fischfang ernähren, wobei Fisch die reichhaltige und leicht zugängliche Proteinquelle für die Flussbewohner ist. Es wurden drei Arten untersucht, die von der Gemeinde São Raimundo do Pirativa am meisten konsumiert werden: Hoplias malabaricus (Bloch, 1794) Traíra, Leporinus friderici (Bloch, 1794) Aracu und Callichthys callichthys (Hancock, 1828). Die Untersuchung ist in vier Kapitel gegliedert: Das erste Kapitel enthält die bibliografische Übersicht, das zweite Kapitel eine vergleichende Studie über das räumliche Verhalten der drei (03) Arten Hoplias malabaricus (Traíra), Leporinus friderici (Aracú) und Callichthys callichthys (tamuatá) aus der Ichthyofauna des Flusses Pirativa-Santana-AP.
