Ahmed Rasheed (Alig), born in 1957 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, belongs to the generation of Urdu writers who emerged in the post-1970 era, bringing fresh perspectives to fiction, journalism, and literary criticism. Writing under the pen name Ahmed Rasheed, he established himself not only as a short story writer but also as a respected critic, particularly in the realm of fiction. His career began in journalism, where he served with publications such as Mashriqi Awaaz, Nida-e-Jamhuria, and Latifa, blending reportage with literary sensibility.
