A aquacultura é o desenvolvimento de organismos aquáticos em condições controladas ou semi-controladas, o que a torna uma das melhores opções económicas para a obtenção de proteína animal. Na última década assistiu-se a um desenvolvimento da aquacultura a nível mundial, embora com enfoque nos países em desenvolvimento, uma vez que tem o potencial de produzir mais peixe a um custo mais baixo, cobrindo a procura que será apresentada pela explosão populacional sem afetar a ecologia e produzindo alimentos seguros, de alta qualidade e com um excelente perfil nutricional. No presente estudo, foram realizados vários experimentos para avaliar o efeito do bagaço de maçã fermentado e o uso de um aditivo à base de levedura na dieta de tilápias (Oreochromis niloticus) durante a fase de crescimento. Tanto o bagaço fermentado como o aditivo de levedura foram preparados por processos de fermentação aeróbica.
