L’étude sur l’abondance et la répartition des grands mammifères dans le paysage de Bakossi, dans la région du Sud-Ouest du Cameroun, a été menée dans trois zones protégées de la région de Bakossi afin de mettre en évidence la répartition et l’abondance des grands mammifères et d’évaluer l’impact de l’homme sur ces derniers. La méthode du transect linéaire, les observations directes et les bio-indicateurs indirects, ainsi que l’observation directe des activités humaines ont été utilisés pour déterminer respectivement la densité relative des grands mammifères et des activités humaines. Les résultats ont indiqué que 10 espèces de grands mammifères étaient présentes dans le paysage de Bakossi. Les grands mammifères sont remarquablement présents dans la zone du paysage de Bakossi. Ces espèces ont une importance économique pour la communauté locale et l’ensemble de la nation. Par conséquent, le gouvernement, la population locale, les biologistes animaliers et les défenseurs de l’environnement qui ont un intérêt direct dans les grands mammifères ont un rôle majeur à jouer dans la protection de ces espèces.
