O armazenamento de carbono e sua dinâmica nos ecossistemas estão recebendo grande atenção devido ao papel do CO2 nas mudanças climáticas. O presente estudo, que se insere neste contexto de alterações climáticas globais, foi efectuado na zona sul da RBA. O objetivo geral deste estudo é avaliar o efeito da retirada das florestas de argão (ASR) sobre o seu papel na mitigação dos efeitos das alterações climáticas, avaliando a dinâmica do stock de C entre 1998 e 2021. Para atingir este objetivo, é necessário determinar a biomassa lenhosa e foliar. Para o efeito, foram utilizadas as equações disponíveis. O stock de carbono no solo foi calculado pelo método de Walkey-Black. A análise da evolução da utilização dos solos foi efectuada com o motor Google Earth, utilizando imagens Sentinel 2A e Landsat 5, e TrendsErath para as grandes superfícies. O carbono médio sequestrado no sítio de Boutmezguida foi estimado em 48,18 toneladas C/ha. O sítio de Aiterkha sequestra uma média de 59,29 t C/ha.
