A principal questão de investigação abordada neste trabalho de conclusão de curso é: o que diz a literatura sobre abordagens eficazes de ensino de inglês como língua estrangeira (EFL) a implementar numa escola primária privada em Espanha? Para responder plenamente a essa questão, este trabalho de conclusão de curso abordou também a seguinte questão: que estratégias de ensino são eficazes para desenvolver a fluência num contexto de EFL para crianças? O método de estudo foi uma revisão sistemática da literatura. Os principais autores de referência foram Björklund e Suni (2000) e Björklund (2005). Eles estudaram uma escola de imersão finlandesa que utilizava o ensino baseado em conteúdos num programa multilingue, com resultados bem-sucedidos. Outra influência chave foi Pérez-Vidal (2013). Ela discutiu as conclusões de vários estudos sobre programas CLIL em Espanha e comparou os resultados do ensino intensivo de ESL no Quebec com o CLIL em Espanha. A literatura mostrou que o ensino de EFL baseado em conteúdos é a abordagem mais eficaz para o EFL no ensino básico e que as estratégias de ensino eficazes são histórias combinadas com teatro, rimas e canções.
