Изменение климата - это сложная проблема, не имеющая четких научных и политических решений. Целью данной диссертации является изучение определяющих факторов и аспектов общественного понимания, реагирования на изменение климата, которые могли бы помочь в разработке эффективных стратегий информирования общественности и действенной политики смягчения последствий изменения климата. В данном исследовании используется смешанный методологический подход для изучения целого ряда потенциально значимых факторов, влияющих на восприятие изменения климата и поведенческие реакции на него. Для отбора 172 репрезентативных образцов из города Дакка (Бангладеш) была использована процедура целевой случайной выборки. Результаты показывают, что на местном уровне существует солидная осведомленность и поддержка общих экологических целей; осведомленность и озабоченность в связи с изменением климата, но ограниченное понимание научных причин, возможных последствий и решений проблемы; значительная воспринимаемая угроза, связанная с изменением климата, хотя она и не является 'передовой' проблемой по сравнению с другими социально-экономическими и экологическими вопросами.
