Zmotywowani problemami systemu opieki zdrowotnej, w wielu projektach podjęto już prace nad stworzeniem jednolitego systemu telemedycznego. Telemedycyna jest postrzegana jako nadzieja, która już z powodzeniem znajduje zastosowanie w wielu projektach i innych krajach. Jednak w Niemczech nie ma jednolitego, ogólnokrajowego rozwiązania, a jego rozwój utknął w martwym punkcie z powodu wielu pojedynczych projektów. Najbardziej obiecujące rozwiązanie opiera się na konstrukcji TM-SOA i opracowaniu repozytorium telemedycznego. Jednak wszystkie te i inne projekty SOA mają wspólną cechę: dostarczają one wprawdzie zasady projektowania jednolitej struktury funkcji technicznych, ale nie obejmują one usług zorientowanych na osobę. Ponieważ jednak dziedzina medycyny jest silnie zorientowana na osobę, kolejnym krokiem będzie sformułowanie jednolitych zasad dla usług zorientowanych na osobę, oprócz jednolitych zasad dla funkcji technicznych. W ramach niniejszej pracy na podstawie zasad projektowania SOA opracowano zasady projektowania usług zorientowanych na osobę w ramach rozwiązania telemedycznego SOA.
