Badanie to ma na celu określenie statusu zawodowego kobiet na stanowiskach kierowniczych oraz przedstawienie profilu kobiet na stanowiskach kierowniczych w branży hotelarskiej w Chinach. Analizuje ono bariery utrudniające rozwój kariery kobiet na stanowiskach kierowniczych oraz określa czynniki niezbędne do wspierania rozwoju kariery kobiet na stanowiskach kierowniczych w branży hotelarskiej. Zastosowano metodologię badań ilościowych; zebrano 300 kwestionariuszy z 40 hoteli pięciogwiazdkowych w Pekinie. Wyniki badań wykazały, że status zawodowy kobiet na stanowiskach kierowniczych nadal nie jest wysoki. W branży hotelarskiej zidentyfikowano trzy czynniki (brak równowagi między życiem zawodowym a prywatnym, brak sieci kontaktów oraz dyskryminacja ze względu na płeć), które utrudniają rozwój kariery kobiet na stanowiskach kierowniczych. Umiejętności komunikacyjne i świadomość społeczna to dwa inne czynniki wskazane przez większość respondentów, które mają pozytywny wpływ na rozwój ich kariery. Oczekuje się, że wyniki tych badań mogą dostarczyć użytecznych wskazówek kobietom na stanowiskach kierowniczych, które chcą rozwijać swoją karierę w branży hotelarskiej w Chinach.
