Within Unlucky Thirteen is about the struggles of a single parent trying to deal with thirteen children at home and an neglectful husband out there. It’s about kids growing up poor and events that depicts their bare survival! It’s about the physical/mental abuse the mother had to attend with while trying to raise and feed her many homely children. And while working the fields in the hot sun everyday sometimes on Sundays, she had to succumb to her estrange husband sexual demands when he decided to come home bringing no money, only his nasty bad ass attitude. Also how the Mother dealt with the beat downs she had to endure when she didn’t cater to his demands, how myself coped with the whole situation. It’s about how while planting his wild sexual oaks at home producing baby after baby he was also producing baby after baby out there at about the same time of those at home. It’s also about how as each child went to the work fields the day they grew into working size, which in most cases about age 6/7. It takes you through the civil rights era when Black Folks struggles went far beyond the work fields and their struggles just to have the right to vote, and all other simple tasks that the White Folks had freedom to do with no problems. It contain family history from birth records/death records and events that will make you laugh out loud a lot, events that will make you sad and makes you cry uncontrollably. It shows the relationship between Black’s and White’s, young and old. It contains information on the plantation owner and his family who’s fields we worked and his kindness and compassion he had for our Mama and her family.
