In diesem Buch wird die Kosten-Nutzen-Bewertung des HIV/AIDS-Präventionsprojekts in Zentralafrika (Fallbeispiel Kamerun) vorgestellt. Auf der Grundlage der Daten aus den Umfragen Connaissances Attitudes et Prévention (CAP) und den vierteljährlichen Monitoringberichten des Projekts haben wir eine wirtschaftliche Bewertung des PPSAC während der ersten beiden (02) Phasen der Umsetzung durchgeführt. Die Studie versuchte auch, einen monetären Wert für den Nutzen des Projekts in Form von eingesparten Ausgaben für die Behandlung (von Infektionen) vorzuschlagen. Unsere Analysen und Berechnungen erlauben uns, die Kosten, um eine Person zu einem risikoärmeren Verhalten zu bewegen, auf fast 12.000 CFA zu schätzen und die Kosten pro erworbenem korrekten Wissen über die HIV-Prävention auf fast 24.000 CFA. Außerdem werden die Kosten pro verhinderter HIV-Infektion in Phase I auf 372.000 CFA geschätzt und in Phase II des Projekts auf 767.000 CFA; dieser Unterschied ist signifikant. Darüber hinaus werden pro 1 CFA, der in den ersten beiden Phasen in das PPSAC investiert wird, 6,75 CFA an Ausgaben für die Behandlung von Infektionen eingespart, die bei einer Durchführung des Projekts auftreten würden.
