Der Pequi-Baum, der im Cerrado-Biom beheimatet ist, ist an die Trockenzeit und an karge Böden angepasst. Es wird jedoch angenommen, dass sich die Pflanze unter Bedingungen ohne Wasserdefizit und mit guter Bodenfruchtbarkeit besser entwickeln kann als unter natürlichen Bedingungen, so dass ihr kommerzieller Anbau rentabel ist. Ziel dieser Studie war es daher, die Wasserverhältnisse und das Wachstum des Pequi-Baums in Abhängigkeit von Bewässerung und organischem Dünger zu bewerten.
