Ziel dieses Buches war es, die Umweltwahrnehmung der Studenten des Studiengangs Biowissenschaften an der Faculdade de Caldas Novas - UNICALDAS in der Gemeinde Caldas Novas im brasilianischen Bundesstaat Goiás zu untersuchen. Zu diesem Zweck wurde eine qualitativ-quantitative Studie durchgeführt, um numerische Daten und die Meinung der Probanden zu erheben. Die Feldforschung unter den Studenten fand zu zwei verschiedenen Zeitpunkten statt: 2013 (Eintritt) und später 2016 (Abschluss), als derselbe Fragebogen verwendet wurde. Zusätzlich zu den 23 Schülern des Kurses wurden alle Lehrer (12) befragt, um mehr über ihre Unterrichtspraktiken und ihr Wissen über Umwelterziehung zu erfahren. Es wurde festgestellt, dass die Umweltwahrnehmung der Biologiestudenten erheblich zugenommen hat, jedoch sind diese Studenten der Meinung, dass die von den Lehrern angewandten pädagogischen Praktiken für eine sinnvolle Umwelterziehung unzureichend sind. Die Hochschullehrer haben erkannt, dass sie sich selbst weiterbilden und ihre Einstellung zur Gesellschaft ändern müssen, da sie wissen, dass ihr Handeln einen erheblichen Einfluss auf ihre Studenten und sogar auf die Umwelt, in der sie leben, haben kann.
