Au cours des 15 dernières années, le système traditionnel d’irrigation par crues a été modernisé dans le cadre de différents projets gouvernementaux et non gouvernementaux. Aucun de ces projets de modernisation n’a atteint ses objectifs et la plupart d’entre eux ont échoué en raison de l’envasement et de la diminution du débit des crues. Le principal problème était l’adoption des paramètres de conception du système d’irrigation normal. Le système d’irrigation par crues est unique et différent des autres systèmes d’irrigation. Il nécessite une attention particulière afin de développer des normes de conception appropriées. Cet ouvrage propose donc de nouvelles alternatives de conception pour l’irrigation par crues afin de minimiser les risques d’envasement et d’augmenter le débit des crues vers les systèmes. Après une étude détaillée du développement de la conception et de ses limites, quatre alternatives de paramètres de conception ont été développées. Ces alternatives ont été analysées à l’aide d’un modèle logiciel Delft3D et la meilleure alternative de conception a été recommandée pour être mise en œuvre sur le terrain. Cette étude devrait contribuer à faire la lumière sur cette nouvelle norme de conception passionnante et devrait être particulièrement utile aux professionnels et aux experts dans le domaine de l’ingénierie de l’irrigation par crues, ou à toute autre personne souhaitant en savoir plus sur les caractéristiques et les défis des systèmes d’irrigation par crues.
