Ziel dieser Untersuchung ist es, festzustellen, inwieweit die Auswirkungen des Wechsels von provokativen zu traditionelleren Werbestrategien auf einige affektive und konative Variablen - Einstellung gegenüber der Anzeige (Aad), Einstellung gegenüber der Marke (Abr) und Kaufabsichten (PI) - allein durch den Effekt der Veränderung von Bild/Inhalt der Anzeigen oder auch durch den Effekt der Wahrnehmung der Produktmarken durch die Verbraucher beeinflusst wird. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Auswirkungen des Wechsels von provokativen zu traditionelleren Werbestrategien auf Aad und Abr nicht nur von der Veränderung des Bildes/Inhalts der Anzeigen, sondern auch von der Wahrnehmung der Produktmarken durch die Verbraucher beeinflusst werden. Daraus folgt, dass Aad ein Prädiktor für die Markeneinstellung ist, während Abr ein Prädiktor für die Anzeigeneinstellung ist und PI im Allgemeinen nicht von den Werbestrategien der Marken, sondern eher von den Produktmarken beeinflusst wird. Schließlich finden wir Belege dafür, dass Marken, die mehrere Jahre lang auf Provokation setzten, die Wahrnehmung der Verbraucher in Bezug auf Aad und Abr effizienter ändern können, wenn sie zu traditionelleren Werbestrategien unter denselben Markennamen übergehen als unter neuen Markennamen.
