È distribuita in tutta l’India, tranne che nelle zone aride (Sharma et al., 2000). La Butea monosperma (Lamk.) Taub. ha diversi effetti curativi che si manifestano nel trattamento di molte malattie. Le informazioni sulla Butea monosperma (Lamk.) Taub. sono molto scarse e quindi si è ritenuto interessante intraprendere il presente lavoro per studiare le proprietà antidiabetiche, antimicrobiche e antiossidanti di diverse parti della pianta di Butea monosperma (Lamk.) Taub. Sono state effettuate analisi fitochimiche preliminari su foglie, corteccia e fiori di Butea monosperma (Lamk.) Taub. Sono state eseguite anche analisi TLC e HPTLC. Il colorante dei fiori è stato estratto con diversi solventi polari e non polari. L’attività antimicrobica di foglie, corteccia e fiori di Butea monosperma (Lamk.) Taub. è stata valutata con il metodo della diffusione in pozzetto di Mueller Hinton agar contro alcuni batteri gram positivi e gram negativi.
