L’utilisation des déchets issus de la production agro-industrielle et le traitement des effluents font partie des préoccupations environnementales mondiales croissantes, la recherche de procédés durables étant une nécessité pour l’industrie d’aujourd’hui. L’utilisation de coagulants organiques naturels est apparue comme une technologie durable dans le traitement des eaux usées, devenant une alternative à l’utilisation de coagulants courants, dont beaucoup sont associés à divers problèmes environnementaux. Les lectines et les tanins sont des composants capables de coaguler-floculer certains types de molécules et de particules. Les déchets de l’agro-industrie du manioc sont riches en ces composés. Cependant, l’efficacité de ces phénomènes, qui peuvent être utilisés pour traiter les eaux usées des industries alimentaires et textiles, dépend de facteurs tels que le pH, la température, le temps et le type d’agent qui extrait ce principe actif de la plante. C’est dans ce contexte que cette étude évalue la capacité d’agglutination d’extraits bruts obtenus à partir de la partie aérienne du manioc. L’activité hémagglutinante sur différents types d’érythrocytes est évaluée, ainsi que la capacité à éliminer la couleur de solutions aqueuses de colorants cationiques.
