Para determinar os seus efeitos na sociedade humana como um todo, a sociedade foi dividida em três componentes principais: as pessoas, as empresas e o ambiente. O que se pretende determinar é o efeito das convenções e normas dominantes do Marketing na nossa sociedade humana como um todo.
