Os métodos de agrupamento visam obter partições homogéneas de objetos, promovendo simultaneamente a heterogeneidade entre essas partições. Todas as abordagens de agrupamento, tais como métodos hierárquicos, de partição e neuronais, têm as suas vantagens e limitações. Focamos nos métodos neuronais, pois eles superam os limites dos métodos hierárquicos e de particionamento e são as abordagens de agrupamento mais adequadas para um grande número de dados. Neste trabalho, propomos um algoritmo multi-SOM usando um critério de avaliação diferente. Assim, é necessária uma revisão das medidas de avaliação propostas na literatura. No entanto, o método multi-SOM, juntamente com sua força e eficiência na delimitação de clusters, também tem um limite na condição de parada.
