Die in verschiedenen Bereichen der industriellen Verfahrenstechnik wichtige Messung und Regelung der Konzentration von Suspensionen, worunter der V olumenanteil der aufgeschlämmten Partikeln im Verhältnis zum Gesamtvolumen zu verstehen ist, wird nach dem heutigen Stande der Meßtechnik stets auf der Basis von Viskositätsmessungen durchgeführt. Nach einer von EINSTEIN [9] angegebenen GI. (1), die aus der Änderung des Energieumsatzes bei Einbringen kugelförmiger Teilchen in eine stationär und laminar strömende Flüssigkeit folgt: ~ = 1 + f(k) , (1) [LO steigt die Viskosität [L einer Suspension gegenüber der Viskosität [LO der Träger­ substanz mit wachsender Konzentration k an. Unter der Voraussetzung einer stark verdünnten Suspension (k < 5%) wird für starre, kugelförmige, nicht solvatierte Suspensionspartikeln näherungsweise ein linearer Zusammenhang er­ rechnet, da dann die Teilchen relativ große Abstände voneinander haben und sich gegenseitig nicht beeinflussen: ..!:. = 1 + 2,5 k . (2) [Lo Aus GI. (2) wird ersichtlich, daß die Bestimmung der Konzentration k nach der erwähnten Viskositätsmethode bei großer Verdünnung an der möglichen Meß­ genauigkeit scheitern muß.
