Lo studio valuta la fattibilità del trattamento del percolato sintetico mediante adsorbimento su bentonite, un materiale naturale con notevoli proprietà di adsorbimento. L’obiettivo principale è quello di ridurre il carico inquinante del percolato, in particolare la domanda chimica di ossigeno (COD) e alcuni ioni inorganici (NH₄⁺, NO₃-, NO₂- e PO₄³-), al fine di facilitare una possibile combinazione con un processo di ossidazione fotochimica. Gli esperimenti sono stati condotti in modalità batch, variando diversi parametri tra cui la dose di bentonite, il tempo di contatto, la concentrazione iniziale e la temperatura. I risultati mostrano che l’efficienza di adsorbimento aumenta con il tempo e la temperatura, raggiungendo riduzioni massime del 63% per il COD e percentuali variabili per gli altri inquinanti dopo 24 ore di agitazione a 35°C. Si possono considerare due strategie di trattamento: prolungare il tempo di reazione a temperatura ambiente o accelerare l’adsorbimento a temperature più elevate. Lo studio evidenzia il potenziale della bentonite come adsorbente per il pretrattamento del percolato, offrendo una significativa riduzione degli inquinanti organici e inorganici.
