The Waiting Room presents the reader with a varied collection of short stories, set in such disparate places as the Arizona Desert and the North of England. Along the way can be found events at a Victorian rugby club and the activities of an urban fox hunt. There is a studio audience which discovers that the show goes on for rather longer than expected and a health club with an uninvited guest. These and others make up The Waiting Room.William Hartley is a regular contributor to such magazines as the Quarterly Review and is the author of several books, both fiction and non fiction. When not writing he works as an archivist at the Mining Institute in Newcastle.
