The Two Lovers of Heaven, Chrysanthus and Daria: A Drama of Early Christian Rome is a play written by Pedro Calderon De La Barca in 1870. The story is set in ancient Rome and follows the tragic love story of Chrysanthus and Daria, two young Christians who fall in love amidst the persecution of their faith. Chrysanthus is a wealthy young man who is deeply committed to his Christian beliefs, while Daria is a beautiful and devout young woman who catches his eye. Despite the dangers of practicing their faith, the two lovers remain steadfast in their devotion to each other and to God. However, their love is soon tested when they are both arrested and brought before the Roman authorities. As they face torture and death, Chrysanthus and Daria must rely on their faith and love for each other to see them through their trials. The play is a powerful exploration of the themes of faith, love, and sacrifice, and is considered one of Calderon’s most compelling works. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
