The book is a transcription and translation of a manuscript found at Taymouth Castle in Scotland, which contains a version of the Buik of King Alexander the Conqueror written by Sir Gilbert Hay. The Buik is a historical account of the life and reign of Alexander III of Scotland, who ruled from 1249 to 1286. The manuscript is believed to have been written in the late 15th or early 16th century, and includes detailed descriptions of Alexander’s battles and conquests, as well as his personal life and relationships. Herrmann’s book provides a valuable resource for scholars and historians interested in the history of Scotland, medieval literature, and the life of King Alexander III.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
