The paper explores the multifaceted role of storytelling in enhancing foreign language acquisition, focusing on its pedagogical, cognitive and affective dimensions. It argues that storytelling, an ancient educational practice, is a modern, comprehensive pedagogical strategy that goes beyond simple engagement. By immersing learners in rich linguistic and cultural contexts, narration facilitates the implicit learning of vocabulary and grammar. It also improves comprehension and long-term memory by organizing information narratively and exploiting emotional connections. What’s more, storytelling promotes intercultural understanding, socio-emotional development and even offers therapeutic benefits. Drawing on cognitive theories and empirical evidence, the text concludes that the thoughtful integration of narrative into language teaching leads to a more holistic, engaging and effective learning experience.
