The Queen of Saba is an opera in four acts composed by Carl Goldmark in 1881. The libretto, written by Salomon Hermann Mosenthal, is based on the biblical story of the Queen of Sheba’s visit to King Solomon. The opera tells the story of the Queen’s journey to Jerusalem, her meeting with King Solomon, and their subsequent romance. The plot is filled with political intrigue, betrayal, and love, and is set to Goldmark’s sweeping and passionate music. The Queen of Saba is considered one of Goldmark’s most significant works, and its premiere in Vienna was a great success. The opera is still performed today and is considered a staple of the operatic repertoire.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
