Over the past centuries, many changes have taken place in the world in language teaching and learning. Different methods of language teaching have been applied in different periods because of the changes in the reasons for learning language through time. Thus, the apparent shift from dominant (traditional) methods of language teaching to ESP practice helped people to focus on their specific needs and to get specific knowledge in their area of specialty. English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is one of the approaches that emerged in the 1960s in response to peoples’ needs in language learning. For that reason the teaching of English language has shifted its focus from grammatical view to communicative view and priority is given to the students’ learning purpose. This book, therefore, explores the practice of ESP and the perception of teachers’ and learners’ towards ESP course in selected private higher learning institutes. The analysis and findings are hoped to give valuable information for syllabus designers, material developers and professionals in language teaching.
