The Nut With A Gut

BLACK-&-WHITE COMBINED EDITION - VOLUMES 1 & 1A.It is easier to remember the crimes, When they are put into rhymes. From Donald Trump’s ride down the golden escalator through January 6, The Nut with a Gut retells one of the most extraordinary periods in modern American politics through satirical rhyme and more than 85 illustrated scenes. It is funny because so much of what happened was absurd. It is serious because so much of it was not. For years, Americans were bombarded by lies, scandals, insults and assaults on democratic norms so relentlessly that yesterday’s outrage disappeared beneath today’s. Some called the reaction 'derangement syndrome.' Author Craig Sherman calls it SATURATION SYNDROME. Derangement implies irrationality. Saturation means too much, too often, too fast. When extraordinary behavior happens every day, eventually even the extraordinary begins to seem ordinary. Events blur together. Things we thought unforgettable are forgotten. This book was created to help make sure they aren’t. Using rhyme, humor, history and illustrated satire, Sherman revisits the campaign, presidency, personalities and events that defined the Trump era. Donald Trump spent a lifetime turning his name into a brand. Sherman chose not to repeatedly use it throughout the story. In these pages, America’s 45th President is simply 'The Nut with a Gut.' Part One follows the story from the 2016 campaign through four turbulent years in the White House, the 2020 election and January 6, 2021. Part Two revisits additional events and personalities from that period and introduces the supporting cast known as 'The Despicable Clan.' Together, the two parts turn years of political overload into an illustrated narrative designed to entertain, provoke and stick in the memory. Behind the jokes is a serious question: How did the world’s most powerful democracy become so vulnerable to one loud, vain, angry man with a microphone, an oxymoron, and a belly full of grievance? This is not a textbook or policy paper. It is a civic warning wrapped in rhyme, humor and imagery. This black-&- white edition combines Volumes 1 and 1A and features more than 85 vivid illustrated grayscale scenes alongside 430+ stanzas.
