The Married Philosopher: A Comedy is a play written by John Kelly and first published in 1732. The play is a satirical look at the life of a philosopher who is also married. The main character, Mr. Wisdom, is a philosopher who spends his days pondering the meaning of life and the universe. However, his wife, Mrs. Wisdom, is not interested in his philosophical musings and instead wants him to focus on more practical matters, such as paying bills and taking care of their home. The play follows the couple as they navigate their differences and try to find a way to live together happily. Along the way, they encounter a cast of colorful characters, including a group of philosophers who are more interested in partying than in intellectual pursuits. The Married Philosopher: A Comedy is a humorous and lighthearted look at the challenges of marriage and the clash between practicality and philosophy. It is a classic example of 18th-century comedy and is still enjoyed by audiences today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
