Ben Franklin Parker Jr. is a typical farmer and part-time preacher in rural Oklahoma in 1940. He survived the Depression and is focusing all his efforts on providing for his family and contributing to his community. But that’s when tragedy strikes. His thirteen-year-old daughter, Lavada, dies of pneumonia. Out of tragedy, however, he finds a new mission when he hears God call him to preach far and wide.
