The King’s Henchman is a historical novel set in the sixteenth century, written by William Henry Johnson and first published in 1898. The story follows the life of a young man named Geoffrey, who is taken into the service of King Henry VIII as his henchman. As he rises through the ranks of the royal court, Geoffrey becomes embroiled in the political and religious turmoil of the era, including the rise of the Protestant Reformation and the dissolution of the monasteries. Along the way, he falls in love with a young woman named Alice, who is also caught up in the tumultuous events of the time.
