The Gloss of Youth is a historical fiction novel by Horace Howard Furness, first published in 1920. The book is set in the early 17th century and imagines a meeting between two of the most famous playwrights of the time, William Shakespeare and John Fletcher. The story follows the two as they collaborate on a play and navigate the politics and rivalries of the theater world. Along the way, they encounter a young woman named Anne, who becomes a source of inspiration and conflict for the two men. The book is a vivid portrayal of the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras and offers a glimpse into the lives of two literary giants. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
