The Brother In Law: A Comedy is a play written by Henry Card and first published in 1817. The play revolves around the character of Sir Charles Cropland, who is trying to find a suitable husband for his sister, Lady Mary. He sets his sights on his brother-in-law, Mr. Wilford, who is already married to Lady Mary’s friend, Mrs. Wilford. Sir Charles tries to manipulate the situation to his advantage, but his plans are foiled by the unexpected arrival of Lady Mary’s former love interest, Mr. Belville. The play is a witty and satirical commentary on the social norms and expectations of the time, and explores themes of love, marriage, and family relationships. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
