Local townspeople aided her recovery, including the young son of a family friend, Henry. When Henry asked for Emma’s hand in marriage, she was surprised but ready for the life change. Now, together in marriage, Emma and Henry prepare to become first-time parents and joining others on a hopeful voyage to the United States.
