This is a story about a kid who loves baseball and loves his granddaddy. Ten-year-old Luke has been abandoned by his mother and publicly disowned by his father. To top it off, he stinks at baseball. He is taken to be raise by a wonderful granddaddy who is both wise and loving. Ira teaches Luke how to live life to the fullest, helping him find the good in every day. He also gives his grandson the opportunity to learn how to play the game that is so much more than a game to both of them. All the while, the old man instills the idea that trust, confidence, and fairness provide a strong foundation for life and relationships.
