This important collection examines the contributions of truth-telling mechanisms, such as truth commissions, to long-term sustainable peace. The question of whether and how truth brings peace is underexamined in scholarly literature on conflict resolution, conflict transformation, and transitional justice. This book argues that to ensure a future which does not reiterate the past, the atrocities of war and conflict must be brought to light and addressed. Contributors to this interdisciplinary volume from the fields of political science, law, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, and theology, closely examine the conditions under which various forms of truth telling in post-conflict societies contribute to a sustainable peace.
