Tef [Eragrostis tef Zucc.Trotter] ist ein einheimisches Getreide und eine wichtige Nahrungspflanze für den Großteil der äthiopischen Bevölkerung. Es ist eine glutenfreie Pflanze und reich an Proteinen, Kohlenhydraten, Eisen, Kalzium, Phosphor und Kalium. Obwohl Tef eine sehr wertvolle und sozial wichtige Kulturpflanze für die äthiopische Kultur ist, hat es den niedrigsten durchschnittlichen Getreideertrag pro Fläche unter den Getreidearten. Dieser niedrige nationale Durchschnitt ist auf Bodendegradation, traditionelle landwirtschaftliche Praktiken, Lager, Schädlingsbefall, den wirtschaftlichen Status der Landwirte sowie die Zugänglichkeit und Erschwinglichkeit von Technologien zurückzuführen. Diese Disk-Studie wurde durchgeführt, um die größten Herausforderungen bei der Produktion von Tef zu untersuchen und eine integrierte technische Produktionsrichtlinie zu entwickeln. Diese technische IP-Richtlinie kann von Beratungsmitarbeitern verwendet werden, um Landwirte zu schulen und ihnen Anweisungen und Empfehlungen zur Standortauswahl, Bodenbewirtschaftung, Saatgutauswahl und -aussaat, Ernährung, Wasserbedarf, Pflanzenschutz und Nacherntebehandlung zu geben.
