Ptaki drapieżne charakteryzują się rozległym obszarem występowania i zamieszkują tereny oddalone od obszarów dostępnych dla ludzi. Szacowanie ich liczebności było trudne, ponieważ występowały one na rozległym obszarze. Kani (Milvus migrans) często gromadziły się w dużych wspólnych miejscach odpoczynku podczas migracji oraz w miejscach, gdzie było dużo pożywienia i gdzie znajdowały się kolonie lęgowe. Niniejsze badanie przeprowadzono w celu oszacowania populacji kani w okręgu Lahore. Do oszacowania populacji wykorzystano metodę liczenia miejsc odpoczynku. Odwiedzono cztery lokalizacje i oszacowano tam populację; stwierdzono, że średnio w każdym miejscu odpoczynku przebywało 356 kani.
