Dlatego rozpoznawanie wielu alfabetów jest celem najnowszych badań. To główna motywacja tej pracy. Każdy alfabet ma inną strukturę i inne cechy. Z tego powodu metody rozpoznawania różnych alfabetów też się różnią. Segmentacja tekstu angielskiego różni się od segmentacji tekstu pendżabskiego ze względu na odmienną strukturę. Istnieją jednak pewne wspólne cechy: jedna to cecha statystyczna (histogram projekcji), a druga to cecha strukturalna (liczba luk), które są wykorzystywane do rozpoznawania tych alfabetów. W tej książce przedstawiono przewidywaną strukturę wykrywania wielu alfabetów, takich jak tekst angielski, cyfry angielskie i gurumukhi oraz tekst gurumukhi lub pendżabski.
