L’anacardo(Anacardium occidentale L.) è un’importante coltura arborea tropicale. Appartiene alla famiglia delle Anacardiaceae, che comprende circa 60 generi e 400 specie, tra cui il mango(Mangifera indica L.) e il pistacchio(Pistacia vera L.). L’anacardio è affetto da alcune malattie come la carie dell’anacardio(Corticium salmonicolor), il rigetto delle piantine(Pusarium sp, Pyihium sp, Phyiophtora palmivora e Cylindrocladium scoparium), la peronospora grigia delle foglie (Pestalotia anacardii).pestalotia anacardii)Tra le varie malattie fungine, laperonospora fogliare grigia è una malattia importante e comunemente osservata durante la stagione dei monsoni. Laperonospora grigia è apparsa per la prima volta sul campo come minuscole macchie gialle circondate da una banda grigiastra sulle foglioline. In seguito, queste macchie si trasformano in chiazze necrotiche irregolari. Gradualmente, il centro diventa bianco-grigiastro e la banda marrone si scurisce. In caso di infezione grave, si verifica un disseccamento completo della peronospora e un raggrinzimento della lamina fogliare.
