Le fibre naturali hanno recentemente attirato l’attenzione degli scienziati per le loro caratteristiche: basso costo, bassa densità, rinnovabili, biodegradabili e non corrosive. In questo lavoro, abbiamo preparato e studiato le proprietà di compositi a matrice di polietilene ad alta densità rinforzati con fibre vegetali di foglie di cactus spinoso. Sono state effettuate analisi fisiche, morfologiche e meccaniche dei vari materiali prodotti per studiare l’effetto del contenuto di fibre (5%, 15% e 25%) sulla qualità del composito. I risultati ottenuti mostrano che questi materiali compositi presentano una buona rigidità, una riduzione della densità e una leggera fragilità, che li rende friabili.
