Il mastruz (Chenopoduim ambrosioides L.), considerato dall’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS) una delle piante medicinali più utilizzate tradizionalmente, si distingue per le sue proprietà antielmintiche, insetticide e purgative, oltre ad agire su stati influenzali, problemi epatici, bronchiti e tubercolosi. In questo studio è stato possibile effettuare un’analisi fitochimica di diverse parti dell’albero Mastruz, oltre a valutare il contenuto di fenoli totali, antociani e attività antiossidante dei suoi estratti. Le analisi hanno seguito metodologie precedentemente descritte in letteratura. I test fitochimici sono stati eseguiti qualitativamente e il contenuto di fenoli totali e antociani quantitativamente. I test antiossidanti sono stati eseguiti utilizzando il metodo di cattura dei radicali liberi del 2,2-difenil-1-picrilidrazile (DPPH). Lo studio è stato rilevante perché ha permesso di dimostrare le funzioni fitoterapiche della pianta, giustificate dai metaboliti secondari in essa presenti.
