Diverse Fachberichte und eigene Erfahrungen zeigen, dass das Thema Strafe sowohl im Zusammenhang mit der Schule als auch mit der familiären Erziehung immer wieder Fragen aufwirft und rege diskutiert wird. Es scheint Uneinigkeit darüber zu herrschen, welche Auswirkungen Strafen auf Kinder haben. In diesem Zusammenhang stellt sich die Frage, in welchen Situationen und unter Berücksichtigung welcher Kriterien Strafen vertretbar sind und welche Alternativen sich an Stelle der Strafe anbieten. Die vorliegende Arbeit geht diesen Fragen nach. Dazu werden im Anschluss an die Begriffsklärung und die Erläuterung von Forschungsergebnissen sowie historischen und rechtlichen Aspekten die Standpunkte verschiedener Autorinnen und Autoren mit pädagogischem oder psychologischem Hintergrund dargelegt, miteinander verglichen und anschliessend anhand einer nicht empirischen Umfrage von aktiven Lehrpersonen bewertet.
