Lo scopo principale di questo studio è stato quello di esaminare gli stili di apprendimento percettivi degli studenti universitari sauditi EFL per determinare se la percezione dei loro stili di apprendimento sia un fattore predittivo della persistenza accademica, della soddisfazione e del successo in diversi ambienti di apprendimento. Sono state esplorate le percezioni dei partecipanti sui loro stili di apprendimento sia in ambienti online che in classe, e le conseguenti decisioni di soddisfazione/insoddisfazione e persistenza/non persistenza. Questo studio ha utilizzato un approccio misto simultaneo. Sono stati utilizzati metodi quantitativi e qualitativi. Dal punto di vista quantitativo, sono stati raccolti dati da un campione di 100 studenti sauditi EFL di livello universitario. Gli stili di apprendimento degli studenti sono stati raccolti utilizzando il Perceptual Learning Styles Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ) sviluppato da Joy Reid. Dal punto di vista qualitativo, sono state condotte interviste individuali in profondità con due gruppi composti da sei studenti ciascuno che rappresentavano le due modalità di insegnamento scelte dagli studenti durante lo studio. Le interviste sono state utilizzate per rispondere alle domande dello studio che mettevano in relazione gli stili di apprendimento degli studenti con le loro scelte, esperienze e soddisfazione.
