''Stamboul: And The Sea Of Gems'' is a novel written by John Harwood in 1852. The story is set in Istanbul, which was then known as Stamboul, during the Ottoman Empire. The main character is a young Englishman named Arthur Conway, who travels to Istanbul in search of adventure and treasure. He soon becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue and danger as he tries to uncover the secrets of the city’s famous jewel market, known as the ''Sea of Gems''. Along the way, he meets a cast of colorful characters, including a beautiful Turkish princess, a conniving French jeweler, and a mysterious Greek smuggler. As Arthur navigates the treacherous waters of the jewel trade, he must also confront his own inner demons and come to terms with his feelings for the princess. ''Stamboul: And The Sea Of Gems'' is a thrilling tale of love, greed, and adventure set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most exotic and mysterious cities. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
